Our fabulous Mother's Day writing. The children in Room 12 adore their Mum's. Here is a sample of what they wrote. You can see more on our publishing wall when you visit the classroom.
On the morning of Mother's Day, we all got up early except for Mum and Amelia. I made her thousands of cards and three presents. I made a rainbow wristband, a fairy on a white pony and a yellow ring. I hid my things behind the TV. Jack made a card that said "open" so Mum opened it and it said, "Happy Mother's Day" inside it. It was really exciting. Jack, Brooklyn, Amelia and I cooked breakfast for her. We made scrambled eggs and bacon. Jack brought the tomato sauce and the salt to the table and we gave Mum her presents. It was an awesome Mother's Day!

On Mother's Day we wrote Mum a card and it was shaped like a heart. I spelled poshly and Mum understood it very well. I was well-mannered all day. I helped by feeding the Guinea Pigs twice in one day. The card on the outside was orange and we wrote very neatly, especially me! We got to eat chocolate cookies and go to Dad's work and play on the computer.

We started making our monsters today. It's quite a long process so we will need to be a little bit patient.

First we did a bit of research to find out what monsters looked like.

Then we planned our own monster.

Next we started making our pom-poms.

This part is a little tricky.

But lots of fun.

We also have a chance to practice perseverance.
Tessallating shapes and construction
We have been learning all about Geometry and in particular tessellating shapes by having no gaps or overlaps. We have learned to rotate and translate shapes as well in order to make a correctly tessellated shape. Some of us got a little carried away with the construction of 3D shapes too. Check this out.
And then ... the bigger, the better! Woo hoo, Geometry is great!

Our fabulous writer this week is Anahera. This is what she had to say about the Tooth Fairy.
Yesterday my tooth came out and I put it under my pillow. When I woke up it was in my bed. Oh, no! I said the Tooth Fairy didn't come and maybe that's because I didn't say I believe in her. I've said that before and she still usually comes.
